DTB Scouting Trip around Indonesia

Recently our Founder, Nanki Singh had the opportunity to travel around Indonesia to scout for new excursions and accommodations for Dreamy Trip Bali clients. While Bali, the Island of the Gods, is one of the most beautiful escapes in the world, the remainder of the archipelago is still untouched and still to be experienced by those fortunate to.

Indonesia is the world’s largest island country with more than 17,000 islands under it’s belt. Additionally, it’s the 14th largest country by land area. Not only is it vast in size, it’s diversity in language, culture, and experiences makes it the top desired travel destination in the world.

When travelling with Ind Travel, part of the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy/Tourism and Creative Economy Agency, Nanki had the opportunity to spend an entire week scouting excursions and accommodations around both Bali and Labuan Bajo islands - both having their own unique travel styles.

The purpose of this familiarisation trip was to introduce Indonesian destinations to prospective Indian tourists by inviting Indian influencers. Due to the pandemic conditions, the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy / Tourism and Creative Economy Agency invited Indian influencers who live in Indonesia (expatriates), including Nanki Singh. We chose her because she has a significant influence in promoting Indonesian tourism, especially to her followers in India.

She is also very enthusiastic about exploring the diversity of Indonesian tourism and that is what we need," said Mr. Sigit Witjaksono, Director of Tourism Marketing for South, Central and East Asia.

Scouting Highlights - Bali

Within Bali, the team got to spend time at Royal Pita Maha Hotel in Ubud. From the moment you enter, you feel the vast powerful energy that Ubud is famously known to engulf you in. The property runs for miles with tropical views that you could only imagine seeing in magazines. The Royal Pita Maha is a sanctuary for travellers seeking to recharge the body, mind and spirit in the Balinese village of Ubud. It’s a magical place one wishes to remain lost in forever.

Nanki truly loved her stay here - the photos will simply never replicate the true beauty of this property. The evergreen energy makes you glow and re-energises you in ways you’ve never experienced.

After multiple full-days of activities, we had the opportunity to relax at Karsa Spa. In regards to excursions, Karsa Spa now ranks highly on the Dreamy Trips list of top wellness experiences. The professionality of the team, the techniques they used during our sessions, and the ambiance of the Spa were all up to Dreamy Trips standards. We highly recommend booking an afternoon their to get that “Eat, Pray, Love” experience one comes looking for in Bali. While visiting Karsa Spa, Nanki also recommend spending time at Jungle Fish Pool Bar which isn't too far from Karsa. This is an afternoon recipe for those who truly deserve to get pampered, aka you.

Scouting Highlights - Labuan Bajo

Grateful for the opportunity to travel with Ind Travel, Nanki then flew to Labuan Bajo where the team was escorted onto a live-onboard Sea Safari Cruises ship perfect for a few days out at sea. More than anything, this experience ranked the highest of what Dreamy Trips Bali would like to begin offering to guests once they expand outside of Bali.

With ship staff catering to all our needs, the Ind Travel team and I island hopped to walk alongside Komodo Dragons, hike Padar Island for sunrise, and relax on Pink Beach. While Bali is the hottest destination for travellers, Labuan Bajo is it’s less-known cousin that is climbing the ropes. The sunsets the team witnessed here are ones that would leave you filled with empowering emotions.

If you plan to come to Indonesia, you must add a 3-4 day trip of diving, sunset-watching, and relaxing on-board a luxury ship in Labuan Bajo.

Travelling during COVID

Indonesia has done an impressive job with handling COVID protocols while simultaneously stimulating tourism around the islands. Masks were required at all times throughout the trip, while Antigen and Rapid test were a must to board flights. Staff at all accommodations, including the ship in Labuan Bajo, were following government protocols which made me feel extra assured that my safety was a priority to them.

More than any protocol, the biggest difference to travel to Indonesia post-covid is that travelling can be contact-less.
